MRCS Part A
The MRCS Part A is a written exam that evaluates candidates’ knowledge in surgical principles and applied basic sciences. It consists of multiple-choice questions covering anatomy, physiology, pathology, and patient care. Part A tests the essential theoretical knowledge needed for surgical practice.
To be eligible for the MRCS Part A exam, candidates must hold a recognized medical degree and should have completed at least 12 months of postgraduate clinical experience. This ensures that the candidate has necessary surgical and clinical foundation before attempting the exam.
